Five Nights at Freddy’s, often abbreviated to FNaF, is an indie point-and-click survival horror video game series developed by Scott Cawthon for Microsoft Windows, iOS and Android. The series is centred on the story of a fictional pizza restaurant called “Freddy Faz bear’s Pizza” and its night guard characters who are attacked by malfunctioning animatronic animal characters. The first five games in the series are set in a fictional location and share the same overarching four-night gameplay structure with differing dialogue and based on the four stages of the progression period of the player character’s night shift. Each game also features multiple endings that depend on specific actions taken by the player throughout the game. On March 1, 2015, following a five-year hiatus beginning with the release of “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2”, Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 was released, which uses a different gameplay style than that of previous games. A spin-off free-to-play mobile game entitled “Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location”, which takes place between “Five Nights at Freddy’s 3” and “4” was released in October 2016.
